My family did on and off road biking and it is easy to get bikes delivered to the house. The pool was immaculate and the water was perfect. In the mornings we walked down the hill to the village where there is an old fashioned bakery that made incredible baked goods. The grocery store is a 5-minute drive too. It took 30 minutes for us to get there from the Milan airport and Lake Lugano and Lake Como are both an easy 25- minute drive. There is so much to do in the area. On the one rainy day we had we went bowling in the town nearby. My family did on and off road biking and it is easy to get bikes delivered to the house. The pool immaculate and the water was perfect. In the mornings we walked down the hill to the village where there is an old fashioned bakery that made incredible baked goods. The grocery store is a 5-minute drive too. It took 30 minutes for us to get there from the Milan airport and Lake Lugano and Lake Como are both an easy 25- minute drive. There is so much to do in the area. On the one rainy day we had we went bowling in the town nearby. If you wish to reach Brunate on foot, through the woods, there are two hikes from Como, one runs alongside the cable car and the other passes by the Hermitage of San Donato, founded by the Benedictines in the fifteenth century. It is a religious complex, built between 1604 and 1698 and is made up of 14 Chapels, the Shrine and the Crypt. Its aim was to spread the Catholic faith to local people as a way of combating the growing influence of the protestant reformation. There is a 2 km pilgrims’ trail with 14 chapels dedicated to the mysteries of the Rosary. Each chapel houses a diorama made of very well preserved and rather unusual life size painted terracotta statues.
