Enjoy comfort and space
Every room at il Ronco was specially designed for a member of the family and although the rooms have been redecorated over the years, the spirit of the family shines throughout the house.
Like every family home, il Ronco reflects the personality of its owners. All seven bedrooms are furnished with beautiful antiques that testify to the history of the house and, sometimes, the quirks of its owners. Read more about each room and its original owner below.
The master bedroom & bathroom
The architect and his wife located their bedroom on the first floor, where traditional French windows frame their beloved view of the Alps. The room features a balcony that overlooks the beautifully landscaped garden and the forest.
Attention to detail has always been the family's passion and the master bedroom features beautiful antique bedside tables and a 15th-century chest of drawers.
The en-suite bathroom is decorated in white with sage green and natural wood details. It features double sinks and a fabulously large bathtub, perfect for sinking into at the end of the day. Or if you're a group with young children, perfect for piling into for maritime adventures!
Double bedroom: Isabella
Isabella is the eldest of the children and naturally chose the second largest bedroom; she insisted on plenty of shelves for her books and architecture magazines.
This stunning room has antique terracotta tiles and oak floor. The bed, as originally requested, is nestled amongst custom-made oak bookshelves and wardrobes.
With a French window that opens onto a small private terrace and the gardens, it's truly a relaxing space - perfect for curling up with one of Isabella's many wonderful books.
Double bedroom: Alessandra
Alessandra is the writer in the family and her room reflects her personality - including the mad Venetian painting above her desk.
This pretty twin bedroom can be set up with two single beds or an extra-large double bed. The view is lovely as it overlooks the wooded area to the back of il Ronco. The room is dual aspect with an east-facing window and a French window that opens to a balcony.
On summer mornings, it's a perfect space to enjoy warm, gentle breezes over your first cup of espresso. You're welcome to sit at Alessandra's desk and try some writing of your own!
Single bedroom: Rachele
Rachele's room was originally painted in bright green and red, as befits the rebel in the family. Thankfully, it's been toned down over the years!
The room features a 120 x 190 cm double bed and a large antique bookcase that was hand-crafted from a dowry chest. On sunny days, the sunlight streams in through the large window.
Single bedroom: Francesca
Francesca has always been a dreamer. The sage green sponged finish on the pale blue walls reminds her of happy days on her travels and she has chosen to finish the room with paintings by her niece, an architect and an artist, and an antique desk with staged pictures of her and her father in Victorian costumes.
Francesca's single bedroom features a window overlooking the garden and a French window that leads out onto the veranda.
Single bedroom: Giulia
Giulia is a complete romantic and very artistic, so she originally decorated her cozy room in rose and then transformed gilded frames into special shelves for her collection of old perfume bottles.
The bed in the Giulia single bedroom is beyond comfortable. The room is decorated in shades of soft pink and features a window with a gorgeous view of the Italian oaks that separate the house garden from the old orchard.
The Study
Nestled into the Study, with its beautiful oak panelling, there's an occasional bed which doubles up as an exceedingly comfortable sofa. The Study can either be used as a bedroom for large groups or simply as a place to relax and unwind among an amazing assortment of antiques and books.
