Visiting Milan
People generally think that Milan is all about work, but you just need to visit to see this is not the case.
Milan's famous "Quadrilatero d’Oro" of fashion, framed by the Via Monte Napoleone, Via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Via Sant'Andrea is worth a visit for the shopping and its beautiful architecture and the buzz of the local bars and restaurants.
If art is of interest, visit the Brera Academy, with its unique collection of paintings from medieval to modern. The city boasts the Basilicas of Sant'Ambrogio, San Lorenzo, Sant'Eustorgio, Santa Maria delle Grazie, San Simpliciano, examples of Roman, Romanic and Renaissance architecture.
Other highlights are the Duomo, the famous La Scala Theatre and Leonardo's Last Supper (be sure to book in advance). There are many other museums and galleries, including the recently opened Fondazione Prada, that testify to Milan's status as a City of Art and Culture.
And of course, one could not spend time in town and not experience the very Milanese tradition of the cocktails! From martinis to negronis, the Aperitivo has taken a whole new dimension in Milan where it is always served with a mouth-watering selection of nibbles in the trendiest bars.
